Annika claims National bronze medal

The 2016 Australian Cross Country Championships was held at Stromlo Forest Park on Saturday the 20th of August. The Cross Country and the Australian Road Walking Championships this year shared the same venue this weekend with the Race Walkers competing on the Sunday.

The weekend featured many tales of bravery and fighting adversary with athletes battling not only strong fields of up to 80 runners, but winds, cold rain, the flu and sickness during the race. The ACT team enjoyed many highlights and so too the Tigers who were racing at their favourite Cross Country venue.

Among the highlights for UC Ginninderra was Annika Wise’s bronze medal in the Under 16 Girls 4km team event. A magnificent effort by Annika who was running in her first national Cross Country championships. Two of our youngest Tigers achieving awesome individual placings Andrew (10th) and Chloe (11th) showing Ginninderra has much to offer for years to come as all of our first timers become regulars on the National circuit. Everyone performed brilliantly and their full results follow:
