The Ginninderra Tigers again showed they’re prepared to go the long way for a decent run over Winter. Our endurance athletes entered in strong numbers for the second of the Run_ACT races for the year that was held at the Boat House on Lake Burley Griffin.
The Race included a 2km, 5km and 10km event to suit everyone’s tastes. In the longer run the Tigers were represented by UC’s Rory O’Sullivan who ran impressively clocking 39:48 in his first hit out since returning from injury crossing the line in 11th. Among his fellow competitors was young Sophie Imhoff’s Uncle Scott (6th) who just nudged Rory and Joel’s dad Perry Blackmore (13th), Chloe’s dad Mark Bateman (14th). There were 48 competitors who braved the longest event of the day.
The shorter 5km event featured Ginninderra and ANU athlete Daniel Carson who ran 17:37 for 6th place overall. Dan was closely followed by James Lemon (13th), Jacob Davill (16th), Rebecca Jarvis (28th), Hannah Cadden (29th) and Chloe Bateup (35th). A strong showing from the mighty Tigers out of an open age field of 54 runners.
The shorter 2km sprint race was a real family affair for the Tigers with Ryan Cuzner finishing across the line in 6th place in 7:38. Ryan lead a Tiger Pack of Lucas Davill (6th), Matt Cuzner (8th), Riley Bateup (10th), Hannah Cuzner (14th), Olivia and Zac Cuzner (31st and 32nd respectively) with Kate Cuzner rounding out the team with a 12:22 in 36th position.
The full race results are available on the official website.
The Run_ACT Open Series is run in conjunction with the YMCA of Canberra Runners Club, the next event is at Dunrossil Drive X-Country: 2.1/4.2km this Saturday 30 July 2016.
Please get out and join Team Tiger as we take the long road this winter.
